OUTMemphis

As the Health & Wellness Department continues to expand its direct services, offering weekly hot meals is one of our ways of addressing food access among the high needs sectors of our community. Volunteers can get involved by sponsoring a hot meal (purchasing ingredients or a catered meal) or cooking and serving a hot meal right at our community center.

Donation Center

OUTMemphis

The OUTMemphis Donation Center serves as a holding facility for all incoming and outgoing donations of furniture, home goods, appliances, clothes, pantry goods, and the basics needed to build a first home. Consisting of a garage and clothing room, the Donation Center serves participants of the Metamorphosis Project- our housing project for LGBTQ+ youth aged 18-24. Participants are welcome to utilize the space for any goods they may need for their first apartment. Volunteers receive donations, sort and label, pack up, rearrange, and stage the space to create a friendly shopping experience and quality customer service for participants. Volunteers may also serve as a shopper’s assistant to participants. The support afforded by this role will go towards cultivating a warm and inviting space for participants to exercise autonomy in picking out what supplies suit them.

PLEASE SUBMIT AN EMAIL OF INTEREST TO AIYER@OUTMEMPHIS.ORG ABOUT ONE OF OUR INTERNSHIP OR FACILITATOR POSITIONS BEFORE FILLING THE POSITION ON THE PORTAL! Interning at OUTMemphis is an excellent way to build career experience into your resume. Intern positions are available in every department and each facility. For example, you can assist the Executive Director as an Executive Intern. You could be a part of the Development office as a Development Intern, where you’d learn the ins and outs of grant writing and donor stewardship. You could be a Volunteer Coordinator Intern, supporting all volunteer operations and practicing event management. In short, there's no limitations on the ways an intern can support OUTMemphis operations, from programming to executive directing.

YEC Hot Meals
YEC Hot Meals

OUTMemphis

The Youth Emergency Center provides weekly hot meals to overnight residents, program participants, and any drop-in visitors between the ages of 18-24. This is just one of the ways we can fill the basic needs of youth while bringing them together with peers and community members to provide a more robust support system. Volunteers assist by cooking hot meals and delivering them to the YEC, sponsoring meals by purchasing ingredients and dry goods, or helping serve meals on our busier days.
