Get Certified in HIV Testing! Would you like to become certified in HIV testing? This is a great opportunity to receive free professional training and help support HIV testing and outreach in our community. OUTMemphis is offering a Tennessee Department of Health HEAT (HIV Education and Testing) Training for interested volunteers. Once certified, volunteers can assist with HIV testing at OUTMemphis community outreach events. Training Dates: Saturday, October 17th | 9:00 AM–4:00 PM Saturday, October 24th | 9:00 AM–4:00 PM *This is a two-day training. You must attend Both days to become certified.* Additional Details: • Must be 18 or older • Training is completely free • Lunch will be provided both days • Training will be held at Rhodes College campus (more details closer to training dates) Interested? If interest exceeds capacity, additional registrants will be placed on a waiting list and invited to a future HEAT training. More Info: HEAT is the Tennessee Department of Health's certification program that prepares individuals to provide rapid HIV testing, deliver accurate HIV prevention education, communicate test results, and connect participants to prevention and care services. The training combines classroom instruction with hands-on practice using testing scenarios. For OUTMemphis staff and volunteers, becoming HEAT certified will allow you to provide HIV testing at our Community Health Center and at community outreach events throughout the Memphis area as needed. The training will be led by Cristobal Valdebenito, Director of Community Health at OUTMemphis, and Sam Tubikh, Prevention and Outreach Manager at Friends For All. Certification Requirements: • Attend both training days (attendance is mandatory). • Successfully complete the required testing scenario/practical assessment at the conclusion of the training. • Be 18 years of age or older.
